It’s a great feeling to finally take the plunge into buying a home of your own. Nothing could be more exciting – except maybe choosing your life-partner! And believe it or not, buying your home is a little bit like choosing your life-partner, about building life-long relationships too.
It’s a great feeling to finally take the plunge into buying a home of your own. Nothing could be more exciting – except maybe choosing your life-partner! And believe it or not, buying your home is a little bit like choosing your life-partner, about building life-long relationships too. This is because you don’t just flirt with your home and move on after a while, but you make a permanent arrangement and make a life-long commitment to it too!.
So now that you are done sitting on the fence and have decided to buy a home, you are struck by the daunting task of selecting a home from the different types available. These could range from villas, villaments, apartments or independent homes. However, in the current scenario, villas and apartments are the main options people are going for.
While both these types of homes come with the advantage of being located within secure gated communities, here are some pointers on which option could be better suited to your needs.
Advantages of a villa
Everyone aspires for their own patch of lawn, their own front porch to enjoy their morning cuppa listening to the birdsong and of course a personal space for the children to play and grow up in. All this is do-able if you happen to go for a villa which comes with its own boundary and gate. In an apartment, despite it being the premium or high end, it’s all about sharing amenities with a large group of fellow residents.
Not only that, a villa has a greater investment value over time, as the plot of land on which your home stands also gains in value. Same cannot be said for apartments as their value doesn’t go up too much over time.
The best thing about choosing villas however is the wonderful lack of noise pollution, the absence of shared walls, and the freedom to do as you wish within your home. You could make additions, alternations or even build additional rooms on the terrace for a secondary rent income! With apartments, alterations aren’t possible.
Villas also have their prestige issue, they make a statement of your social status and of having made it; they are addresses to be proud of – and others to be envious of!
As far as the question of amenities goes, both apartment and villa complexes come loaded with world-class amenities, physical fitness facilities, club house, grocery stores, etc. The main difference here is that these amenities are more crowded in apartments.
Hope all this helps you in making the right decision!
